As you may have noticed that I have taken out time from my usual post as I would like to celebrate some amazing individuals, entrepreneurs and innovators who happen to be my clients. I have had the privilege of working with them over the past year and their achieved results have been amazing gift to me.
It has been 10 years now since I opened the doors to my business, marketing, branding consultancy business and ‘boy’ things have come a long way since then. I never knew that I would be working as a business consultant and coach, to be honest with you I did everything possible to stay away from any opportunity that acquired me to take on a leadership role. Not because I don’t like working with people or in large groups but because I actually didn’t like to let my gift of leadership appear in the lime light after seeing disaster stories of leaders in the past making a bad mess of things.
But after doing what I have been doing for the past 10 years now and seeing the results and out comes of some of my amazing clients I can truly say it was the best decision I made 10 years ago to start and launch my own business
I like to introduce you to one of my clients Jane Ann Jones. Jane came to me almost 5 years ago after finishing her coaching degree. She was not quite sure what she was going to do next and was looking for some ideas and help to point her in the right direction.
I came across Jane from a LinkedIn post she put out there 5 years ago for help and we became friends, business partners and latter down the line my client. It has been an interesting journey for Jane and I and will let her tell her full story when you visit her on her newly launch website Jane Ann Jones.
Now how can you as an individual take an idea that you have been dreaming about for many years and turn it into something that is live and kicking? What makes the difference form those of us who get started with our dreams and those of us who give up before we even get started.
Sometimes it’s that little extra push, motivation from someone who see’s something in you or maybe you seeing something in yourself. Having the ability to visualise the end result even though you don’t know how your really going to get there. Let me share with you what I have taught my clients and what I have practised myself for over 10 years.
Motivation – From Building A Dream To Celebrating Your Accomplishments
Motivation is an intriguing stuff. Sometimes, you need big things life events that have the power to turn you around and sometimes, you only need those tiny motivators a cute saying on a poster to make you feel like you have the power to call your own shots.
Build A Dream And Fuel It
Big or small, it really doesn’t matter. So long as you have a dream, a goal, an objective, something you can hold on to, something to work for…that’s good enough to get you started. Once you have identified that something you want to achieve, hook yourself into it. Believe in it. Fuel it and keep the fire inside you burning for it. Give all you can for that dream to be achieved. Oftentimes, it is easy to bargain that dream for something less, like things that can immediately provide us with passing gratification. But don’t fall easily into that trap. If possible, don’t buy it at all.
Just Get On With It
Don’t feel like getting out of bed? Don’t think this is the best time to start a new project? Don’t feel ready yet? Shut these negative ideas out. Feel like you truly are ready for something. Realise that every day is just as good to start new things as any other day. Always make yourself feel ready about everything, even when it is tempting to have a few minutes more of a nap.
The most critical part is always the beginning. It is where hesitation, self-doubt and all those nasty ideas that hold you back comes in. But, refuse to listen to these. Instead, gain the momentum and get on with it. Start with simple things. Take the baby steps. It is easier to be continuously motivated when you know that you are achieving something every time you try. Afterwards, it is much easier to push yourself to finish the task or goal you are trying to pursue. Only then can you start to shoot for far larger stars.
Keep On Believing
Life knows how to deal with us. It can sense whether we are hot or cold towards our dreams. When we are on fire, it throws at us experiences that will shake our beliefs in ourselves, in the dreams we are trying to pursue. When we are damp, it tries to mellow down to lessen the doubts we are feeling. It is when you are already near the achievement of your goal that you should be careful. Because it is during times like this that you will have to prove to life that you truly are serious about pursuing your dreams. In this critical moment, don’t back down, no matter how strong the urge to forget about everything you have worked for. Keep a positive outlook.
Motivation can be rewarded in many ways, on many occasions. Throughout your journey, you will have little successes. And at the end, you have that one huge success. Whenever you overcome each of these successes, reward yourself. It is easy to keep on moving when you know that you are getting one step closer to realising your dream.
